A Current of Color: Tour the Brand New Office of Buist Electric

With a splatter of color and a mix of uses, the new office of Buist Electric has opened its doors to employees, clients, and the community. A sure showstopper, the colorful, connected space was created to fit each employee’s needs and offer a range of spaces within the work environment.
The do-it-all electrical company purchased an existing structure in Byron Center, renovating the building and adding an expansion to create room for a multitude of meeting spaces, private offices, and open work areas.
Buist Electric worked with interior designer Amanda Huizenga of Amanda Christine Design to create a layout that suited the company’s needs. From there, Amanda worked closely with Custer’s design team to select furniture, fabrics, and finishes for the space based on budget and functionality. Additionally, Custer provided both technology and custom-built elements for Buist Electric.
Because most of Buist Electric’s employees sit in private offices, Custer worked directly with those employees to create personal environments that supported their individual, everyday work. For many estimators, planners, and project managers, these furniture solutions included Custer’s custom-built drafting tables. With flexibility and height-adjustability being priorities for Buist Electric, Custer provided height-adjustable workstations for those employees who desired it.
