Lane Automotive Unveils Updated Corporate Office After Semi Crashes Into Building
Diana Schimpf, NCIDQ
A year after a semi crashed into Lane Automotive, located at 8300 Lane Drive in Watervliet, MI, it unveiled its newly renovated office space.
“We used this renovation as an opportunity to make significant upgrades to our corporate offices, including technology updates and new workspaces,” said James MacEachern, COO/CFO at Lane Automotive. “We worked with Custer to design a collaborative environment that offers flexibility for employees and captures our brand and culture. Our employees are excited to be back in this space.”
Lane Automotive, founded in 1964, is a worldwide supplier of parts and accessories for race cars, hot rods, classic cars, trucks and off-road vehicles.
In June 2017, a semi crashed into Lane Automotive’s headquarters, causing flooding and significant damage to its workspace that houses 167 employees. Employees were relocated to other areas of Lane Automotive’s building, working at folding tables wherever they could find room, while building renovations were taking place.
Lane Automotive engaged Custer, Rockford Construction and Buist Electric to renovate four open office areas, 31 private offices and nine conference rooms. Custer provided custom design services, including glass painted whiteboards and a custom solution for privacy and modesty screens. Custer’s renovations also included the following furniture and technology upgrades:
- 31 Private offices
- Three executive offices with wood accents
- 132 open office cubicles with height adjustable desks
- Mobile tables and projectors in two training rooms
- Tables and chairs in the café and breakroom
- Soft seating to create comfortable collaboration spaces
- Seven conference room furniture and monitors
“Custer was able to provide Lane Automotive with a blended solution that gives employees flexibility and comfort throughout the entire office,” said Tobi Anderson, account manager for Custer. “We wanted to help Lane Automotive design a workspace that helps employees do their best work, and is equipped with furniture and technology that supports employee engagement, teamwork and collaboration.”
