In Spring 2017, Consumers Energy and Grand Valley State University partnered to build the new John G. Russell Leadership Center, which is located on the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids.
The new 31,000-square-foot building will serve as a training center for Consumers Energy employees, as well as a facility for GVSU faculty and students.
The Leadership Center will serve as a central hub for all three Consumers training facilities across the state, providing a single location for leadership and professional development, training sessions, new employee orientation, safety and certification programs.
Consumers Energy and GVSU partnered with Custer for interior design services for the entire building, including artwork and accessories, furniture and installation, and project management. Throughout the building there is plenty of natural light, offering a bright and inviting workspace for Consumers Energy employees and GVSU students and staff.
