Updated facility improves mental health services
Beth Swanson
Munson Healthcare has recently opened the doors to its newly renovated facility, aiming to meet the rising demand for improved mental health services in the greater northern lower Michigan region.
This initiative, working with Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Authority (NLCMHA) and a group of regional partners, aims to provide mental health, substance use disorder, and crisis services all in one place.
The Grand Traverse Mental Wellness Center, partially funded by $5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), represents a step forward in offering coordinated care to individuals of all ages, regardless of their insurance or financial situation.
Custer played a pivotal role in equipping the facility with healthcare solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of its patients and staff.
The design includes Steelcase task seating and waiting room furniture, Stance Behavioral Health patient room beds, desks, and wardrobes, as well as Wieland Health patient recliners. These thoughtfully selected products are integral to creating a supportive and functional environment that enhances patient care and staff efficiency.
The renovated facility features a variety of specialized environments, including patient rooms, dining areas, group rooms, consultation spaces, waiting rooms, and medical staff offices.
Each area is designed to promote healing and well-being, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care in a comfortable and welcoming setting. As Munson Healthcare takes on the role of fiduciary for the ARPA funds, this project underscores their commitment to improving mental health services and supporting the community’s overall wellness.
