Tour the New Kid-Friendly Therapy Space at Pine Rest
In this video testimonial, take a tour of the Pine Rest Van Andel Center PHP Unit complete with safe, kid-friendly fabrics and furniture. The space hosts therapy for kids who are receiving acute services, learning coping skills and attending group therapy.
“Custer was great in helping us find furniture that was both fun for kids — whether it be the fabric and the finish on it, and matched some of the color scheme that we wanted to do — but was highly function for a group therapy setting,” said Heather Treib, Director of Operations at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services.
This therapy room in Pine Rest’s PHP Unit offers comfortable furniture in playful colors, perfect for a group therapy session.
Safety was a top priority for Pine Rest’s new PHP unit. All behavioral health furniture requirements were met with new furniture that’s durable, functional and colorful. Custer supplied design services, furniture and architectural finishes for Pine Rest’s dining room, activity room, offices, reception, group therapy room, and multiple meeting rooms.
“The work of Pine Rest is extremely important to our community and youth,” said Megan Kuzma, Healthcare Specialist at Custer. “Custer worked alongside Heather and her team at Pine Rest to create an environment that honored kids’ interests while keeping them safe, and which also enabled the staff to provide treatment effectively. The result is an environment that we’re proud of and a space to aid kids on their journeys of healing.”
Custer supplied design services, furniture, and architectural finishes for this reception space and throughout the office.
Custer and Pine Rest have worked together on several projects and built a relationship that, over time, has grown to be one of mutual understanding and trust.
“We have a really good relationship with Custer,” Treib said. “We’ve worked with them on a couple of other projects, and I’ve just found them to be very good listeners….I felt like I could trust them to get to the end product, and that was really helpful.”
