Health Facilities Management – Breaking Away from Institutional Design

“While the physical design of a product to facilitate effective cleaning is reasonably accomplished, the cleaning products and chemicals themselves are an area of contention,” said Nathan Chandler of Steelcase Health. “With more interest in environmental sustainability, there is growing tension between the use of chemicals and cleaning protocols that do not align sustainability objectives with the long-term durability of many fabrics and product finishes. This continues to be an area for broader discussion and education.”
